Dai Lewis Auctioneers reports: Another good entry in all sections (291). Barren cows again saw another fast run, beef cows peaked at 125 p/kg and dairy topped 103 p/kg. Weaned calves and store cattle sold to another brisk trade.

March 18th J. J. Morris reports: A small entry of calves saw a top price of £178 for a Limousin bull from Evans, Waterholmes Farm, Llawhaden with heifers selling to £122 for a Limousin from Howell, White Hook, Clarbeston Road.
Sheep section: An entry of 1,091 approved hoggetts with 24 new season lambs once again sold to a good trade. Hoggetts sold to a top price of 150.p per kilo for 40 kilo hoggetts from Williams, Natts Hook Farm, Portfield Gate with others including 149.1p (46 kilos), Llewellyn and Sons, Llwyndwr Farm, Llandissilio; 148.4p (48.5 kilos), Windsor and Son, Fforest Farm, Whitland.
New season lambs sold to 197.5p per kilo for 41 kilos from Morgan, Hampstead, Ferryside with others at 190.5p for 37 kilos from Monahan, Stember Farmhouse, Rosehill.
Non-approved hoggetts (103) sold to a top price of £53 and averaged £41, or 107.32p per kilo.
Cull ewes and rams (540): A large entry sold to a very good trade with a top price of £95.50 for ewes from Jones and Sons, Robleston Hall, Camrose with other leading prices including: £91, Roberts, Llwyndrissi Farm, Whitland; £88, £84.50, Thomas, Ystlysycoed Isaf, Llanon; £82.50, Monahan, Stember Farmhouse, Rosehil. Cull rams sold to a top price of £70 from Thomas and Son, Cildywyll, Llanddowror. Heavy ewes averaged £52 with lighter ewes averaging £27 and cull rams averaging £43.85. Ewes and lambs sold to a top price of £85 from Thomas, Dyffyrn, Druslyn.
Fat cattle: Top price was 138.5p per kilo for a 620 kilo Limousin from Merriman, Lower Coachlands Farm, Sageston, who also sold other steers for 132.5p (720 kilo) and 119.5p (775). Lee & Son, Pistyll Gwyn, Llanboidy sold a 565 kilo Angus for 127.5p per kilo and a heifer at 123.5p per kilo. Reynolds, Pentroydyn, Llanddewi Velfrey achieved 116.5p per kilo for a 535 kilo Belgian Blue.
Barren cows sold to an overall average of 95.21p per kilo, with a top price of £800 for a £730 kilo Friesian from Davies, Upper Carvan Farm, Tavernspite. Other leading prices: £790 (790 kilo), Rees, Bwlch Farm, Henflwch Road; £760 (630 kilo), Reynolds, Pentroydyn, Llanddewi Velfrey. Two overage heifers sold at £555 and £468 from Harries and Son, Ffosddu Fach.
Crymych
March 26th
J. J. Morris reports: With more than 800 sheep entered again, there was a buoyant trade throughout, with store hoggetts topping £70. Cull ewes were again in great demand, with a top price of £88. There were more than 150 ewes and lambs, with £122 for a two year old ewe with two lambs.
