FARMERS are being reminded to complete their annual sheep and goat inventory form this week.
The form is a legal requirement and should include the number of sheep and goats owned on January 1st, 2014. The deadline for the form to be completed and returned to the Welsh government local divisional office by February 1st to avoid penalties.
NFU Cymru livestock board chairman, Lyndon Edwards said: “Farmers should ensure that the completion of the form is top priority. Sheep should include breeding sheep, rams, ram lambs, store and finished lambs, cull ewes/rams and other sheep.”
The number of sheep and goats owned on January 1st should also be recorded in the on-farm flock record.
Farmers needing help or guidance can email the Welsh Government divisional office stats.agric@wales.gsi.gov.uk or ring the Sheep and Goats Inventory helpline on 0845 010 2244 (English) or 0845 010 2233 (Welsh).
