A public exhibition on the DeltaStream device, which will generate clean electricity from the currents in Ramsey Sound, will be held in St Davids this Friday and Saturday.
Consent for the 12-month project was granted to the Welsh Marine Renewable Energy Company Tidal Energy Ltd. by the Welsh Government and the Department for Energy and Climate Change in March.
The project is now heading for the manufacturing phase, ready for the installation of the device in 2012.
The DeltaStream, which was invented by Pembrokeshire Engineer Richard Ayre, will sit on the sea bed, using tidal currents to generate clean electricity and aims to minimise the impact on the environment.
Chris Williams, Development Director of Tidal Energy said: “This public exhibition is a very exciting one for us and we are pleased to be able to discuss with the community and other interested parties our plans for getting the DeltaStream device built and ready to go into the water.
“The exhibition will explain our plans for the next 12months and will give details about the installation, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of the device.
"We welcome anyone with an interest in the scheme to attend. If you have never heard about the project or are familiar with it and are keen to know what will be happening next, we would be very pleased for you to come and speak to us.”
The exhibition will be held at St Davids City Hall from 2pm-5pm on Friday June 17th and 10am-2pm on Saturday 18th, and is free and open to all.
