WEATHER permitting it looks like we are going to have yet another record breaking attendance on this year's Pembrokeshire County Run, with hundreds of entries taking part from all over the UK.
There will be vehicles spanning almost a 100 year's, from the early days of motoring to sporty hatchbacks and kit cars from the 21st century!
This year the Run faces major changes.
Due to Milford Marina no longer being available for us to use as a start line and the North Beach Park in Tenby now not able to cope with all the entries on the day, we now have a NEW start and rinish Line at the Pembrokeshire County Showground.
Due to this venue being an ex wartime RAF aerodrome and the home of the annual Pembrokeshire County Agricultural Show every August, this will enable ALL the vehicles to park together with no problem.
At the Showground we have so much to offer you. There's an indoor market open all day, a Go-Kart arena and even a Bridal Fayre! There is also a cafe ready to serve you anything from a full breakfast before the Run to a meal after you cross the Finish Line! Fast food and toilets are also available.
This year we witness so many anniversaries- The 40th and 75th anniversary of both the Triumph Stag and the legendary Jaguar, plus the Centenary of the Alfa Romeo.
It is also the 900th anniversary of Haverfordwest, the county town of Pembrokeshire and the 65th anniversary of both VE and VJ day, along with the 70th anniversaries of both the Battle of Britain and Operation Dynamo.
Due to the vastness of the magnificent Showground we hope (weather permitting) to do things prior to the Start of the Run at 10.30am,that we have only dreamt of in the past ... The Pembrokeshire County Review, were our guests will view all the entries from a motorcade of open top cars!
Please support both the British Heart Foundation and the ITU at our Withybush General Hospital, two organisations so close to our hearts and it is thanks to these wonderful organisations that I (Jeff) am still here with you, PLEASE support them all you can.
ALL proceeds from the sale of this programme and the 2009 programme (which is still available) will go to both the BHF and the ITU.
Many thanks to ALL our sponsors ... our main sponsor the WESTERN TELEGRAPH and our two new sponsors,Pembrokeshire Road Training and the West Wales Car Club for marshalling at both the Start and Finish Lines ... Thanks also to RWE npower for sponsoring our sound system and to the PAUL KELLY Disco Roadshow for all their help and kindness in entertaining everyone.
Our very grateful thanks also to the Dyfed Powys Police and the Pembrokeshire County Council for all their help and support, also to our friends the Fishguard & Goodwick Lions for hosting the halfway Refreshment Stop for us at Goodwick.
And our VERY grateful thanks to the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society in allowing us to use their magnificent Pembrokeshire County Showground this year.
Have a fantastic day touring along our 14 mile extended route, witnessing many new sights never witnessed before in the Run's history and entry forms for the 2011 Run will be available at our Control and we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 4th September 2011.
Happy Motoring,
Jeff and Sian and ALL our small and dedicated team.
