Preseli Pembrokeshire Labour candidate Mari Rees urged voters to "take another look at Labour" as she launched her election campaign at Fishguard leisure centre on Wednesday.
Mari has recently moved to Milford Haven and has strong family connections throughout the county.
She believes that the Preseli Pembrokeshire seat will be a closely fought battle, one in which every vote counts.
"It would only need 305 people to switch votes for this seat to go back to Labour," she said. "I urge everybody to use their vote."
Mari's campaign will focus closely on local jobs and Labour's part in the ongoing national recovery.
"During the worse global recession we have ever seen we have less than 5% unemployment, compared to 20% prior to 1997" she said.
"This due to the Labour government and how they have handled this recession. Gordon Brown has led the country out of this recession."
