Nick Ainger was elected as a Member of Parliament for the Pembrokeshire Constituency in 1992 and following reorganisation of the Constituencies was elected in 1997 and 2001 as the Member for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire.
He has served as a Parliamentary Private Secretary for three Secretaries of State at the Welsh Office, Ron Davies MP, Alun Michael MP and Paul Murphy MP. He was a Government Whip with responsibilities for the Welsh MP’s and for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs between 2002 and 2005, and served as a minister in the Wales office until 2007, when he returned to the backbenches.
On a personal note Nick has lived in Pembroke Dock, in his constituency, since 1972, is married to Sally and has a 31 year old daughter, Sadie, and a 2 year old grandson.
