People living on Nine Wells bends near Solva have put up three signs appealing to drivers to slow down.

Residents have witnessed countless accidents over the years and have substantial photographic evidence of many collisions.

However, despite appeals to Pembrokeshire County Council for speed restrictions and traffic calming measures, nothing has been done.

Residents have now taken things into their own hands and erected signs saying "think, slow down"

St Davids city councillors met residents last week to give their support.

Cllrs David Chant, Tony Cox and mayor Bethan Price said the city council has appealed to the county council for years for traffic calming measures outside Ysgol Dewi Sant and Nine Wells.

"We just keep getting the same answer that as there is no history of fatalities they won't do anything.

"We want to prevent a fatality, that is the whole point," they said.

Ceri and John Price have lived on the bends for 15 years. John said: "A young lad came hopping around the corner on two wheels driving too fast, only a couple of weeks ago.

"Having just missed our car, he spun across the road, turned over and landed in our hedge on his roof. If I had been a few seconds later, he would have hit me head on. This has re-iterated the need to slow the traffic down.

"As the county council has repeatedly said that there has to be a fatality before they will do something, we have had to take action ourselves."
