A TRAGIC motorycle accident which caused the death of a 34-year-old Pembrokeshire man is being investigated by police in Staffordshire.
Kerry Asby (pictured), of Templeton - the elder son of Joan Asby, who is co-ordinator of local initiative Planed, was killed on Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his Honda machine on a bend and collided with an oncoming bus.
The accident is believed to have been caused by a combination of a diesel spill on the road and wet conditions.
It happened between Stafford and Newport, as Mr Asby was travelling home from Manchester where he had been visiting his father, Dr Robin Asby.
"This is a devastating blow," said a friend of the family. "Kerry loved his motorbike, but he was always such a careful rider."
Brought up in Narberth, Mr Asby gained a first class honours degree in engineering management from Greenwich University after leaving Tenby's Greenhill School. He had latterly been teaching English in Spain before moving back to Pembrokeshire to live with his mother at Maes-yr-Ysgol, Templeton. He had recently been studying an advanced course in computer systems, but took time every day to keep up his fitness at the Bloomfield gym in Narberth.
"Kerry was always learning, always searching for more knowledge, and always pushing the boundaries to see what he could achieve," said the family friend.
In addition to his parents, Mr Asby is survived by his younger brother Rhodri, who lives in Cardiff.
The funeral arrangements had not been finalised as the Western Telegraph went to press, but further details will be available from the funeral directors, Tom Newing and Sons, Milford Haven on 01646 693180.
