A busy year beckons for Narberth's new mayor, Councillor Wynne Evans.
For alongside taking on the role of First Citizen, he will also continue to represent the town on Pembrokeshire County Council.
"I know I am serving as mayor with the backing of the people of Narberth, as I have been overwhelmed with over 80 good luck' cards," said Cllr Evans this week.
The Narberth-born and bred councillor, who is 46, first joined the town council 17 years ago and became a member of the county authority nearly two years ago "My main concern will be to make sure that everyone in Narberth has their voices heard, and I will do my utmost to listen to the needs of the people," he said. "Narberth is a wonderful place to live, and hopefully it will remain so."
Cllr Evans, who took over as mayor from Cllr David Norcross, will be supported as deputy mayor by Cllr Elizabeth Rogers. Denise Rigby, will be mayoress.
The mayor's civic parade and service at St Andrew's Church, Narberth, will be held on Sunday, July 23rd, and charities supported by the mayor during his year of office are Breast Cancer Research, Span Arts youth workshop, Narberth Youth Theatre, Bright Buds Playgroup and Narberth Skate Group, with donations to the Friends of Narberth Pool and Narberth Junior Cricket.
