GROWTH in the Pembrokeshire market has led to a Bridgend-based company to establish a base in Pembroke Dock.
J. W. and E. Morris and Son has supplied industrial and commercial engineering services throughout south Wales since 1945.
Recent growth in demand for electrical and mechanical solutions in our county has been instrumental in the company's expansion.
Engineering sales manager Don Le Clare says they are looking at a long-term investment in the area.
The opening of their new branch at Sunderland House in Pembroke Dock's former Royal Dockyards in April was marked with a two-day event including trade exhibitions of their electrical wholesaling and fire detection divisions.
Mr Le Clare said: "I am confident the services on offer will combat a current gap in the local market and act as a means of aiding the economic regeneration of Pembroke Dock."
Mayor Ron Watts attended the opening and said he and the company share a vision of Pembroke Dock's biggest regeneration since the 1960s. "It is one of many companies looking around at the moment," he said.
Councillor Watts was especially pleased to hear JWE Morris is looking to employ local labour and hopes to speak with sixth formers about the possibility of apprenticeships.
