DALEK-LIKE creatures have started appearing in Pembrokeshire communities.
But these invaders are more down-to-earth than outer space.
They are free compost bins being delivered to every household in Pembrokeshire over the next few months as part of the county council's strategic recycling scheme.
The council, in connection with Waste Awareness Wales, is encouraging residents to reduce landfill rubbish while creating home-made fertiliser for the garden.
And the timing is perfect - coinciding with Compost Awareness Week running from May 8th to 14th.
Waste awareness officer Rebecca Whalley said: "The average household generates a lot of garden waste, such as grass cuttings and leaves, and kitchen waste, such as fruit and vegetable peelings - all of which can be turned into high quality compost using a home compost bin."
That message is being taken to Milford Haven schools during the week by Milford Haven Plus officers Gavin Sharp and Dai Rogers.
Mr Sharp said: "This will give children the knowledge to help their parents with home composting this summer."
Anybody wanting more advice should look out for the compost awareness bike, which will be visiting most areas.
Information on the strategic recycling scheme is available on 0845 6030494 or by checking www.recyclepembs.co.uk and recycling and composting officers are based at Hubberston Resource Centre, 18 Gelliswick Road, Hubberston.
