Pembrokeshire Real Nappy Network (PRRN) held an information and advice stall at Haverfordwest's Farmers' Market on Friday as part of Real Nappy Week 2006.
Parents were able to view samples of a variety of modern washable nappies, ranging from a red fleece Welsh rugby nappy, to shaped nappies and wraps in a variety of funky and more traditional colours, and the classic towelling square nappy.
The PRNN recently recruited two part-time co-ordinators, Jeni Thomas and Katy Lawrence, who will continue and expand the work of the network by running several new initiatives, including a cashback scheme and a trial nappy pack scheme.
Part of their role involves giving nappy demonstrations and advice in antenatal classes, coffee mornings, parent and toddler groups and in people's own homes.
Jeni, Katy and volunteers from the local Nappy Network were able to share their experience of using cloth nappies with visitors to the stall.
Dad Dominic Bagnall commented: "We've been using washable nappies on our little boy and we're really pleased that we've saved over £1,000 by using them. It's also nice to know that our nappy waste isn't going to sit in a landfill site for hundreds of years."
