Nearly 20 Pembrokeshire artists are showing their support for the home-grown Sri Lanka support charity, Start, by putting work forward for its art auction this week.
Start (Sri Lankan Trust to Aid and Rehabilitate Tangalle) was formed by solicitor Paul Cowper, his wife Jane and their family after they had a narrow escape from the devastating tsunami in 2004.
Since then, Start has raised over £60,000 to enable it to fund projects including buying land for homeless families, helping schools and refurbishing hospital wards.
Paul said: "Every pound we raise to help the people of Tangalle will stretch at least four times further than in Britain, so our fund-raising is really worthwhile."
The auction will take place at St Johns Church Hall, Warren Street, Tenby tomorrow (Thursday) at 7pm, when wine and nibbles will be available.
The hall is open for viewing between 10am and 2pm and 4pm and 7pm today (Wednesday) and tomorrow.
During the viewing times, raffle tickets will be sold for a painting by a promising young Tangalle artist, who had both her legs broken by the force of the tsunami wave.
Artists exhibiting are: Gillian Adie, Olivia Argent, David Burton, John Uzzell Edwards, Arthur Giardelli, Jan Gregson, Annie Giles Hobbs, Tina Lewis, Pearl McCabe, Sylvie McCracken, Osi Rhys Osmond, Audrey S. Peterson, Susan Sands, Marina Strangward, Naomi Tydeman, June Tiley, Susan Pomery Wilks, Claudia Williams and Geoff Yeomans.
