Solva 1 Milford Athletic 2 (After extra-time) Milford Athletic came back from a goal behind to become the Division Two Cup champions following extra time drama at the Bridge Meadow.
It was Solva with much of the possession in the opening twenty minutes and who looked the most likely of the two sides to take the lead. Solva's Luke Jones came close on several occasions. Twenty minutes in, his one on one with Milford goalie Chris Scoble forced a good save from the Athletic keeper.
Ten minutes later, Solva's Luke Phillips' 25 yard free kick found the head of Richard Bland, only to come rebounding unluckily of the post.
Milford held off Solva's attacking challenge and going into half time would have been much the happier of the two sides.
Goalless at the interval, Solva were left to rue missed chances, having played much of the first 45 minutes in Milford's half.
However, it didn't take long for Solva to find a goal after the break.
Solva's Luke Jones' well placed cross found Ben Jones, whose shot powered into the corner of the net to give Solva the lead in the 60th minute.
And it could so nearly have been two nil minutes later following a blunder by Milford's Martin Davidson, whose back pass to his goal keeper Chris Scoble caught him off guard and left him running back to save the ball from crossing the line.
Milford looked a much better side in the second half however, and they were rewarded 15 minutes before full time when Chris Macleod's corner curled wickedly and rebounded off the far post into the back of the net.
In the closing minutes Milford continued to pressure, enjoying possession they had rarely had during much of the game.
Solva were punished for not converting the chances they had throughout the game, especially in the first half, to put the game beyond Milford Athletic, and as the whistle went for full time it was 1-1.
Extra time followed and it was Solva who initially had the better chances when Ben Jones found himself unmarked with the ball just outside the box, but his shot went straight at the Athletic keeper who saved comfortably.
Jones came even closer minutes later when his shot hit the post, but as the ball rebounded Milford were ready to pounce.
The ball went darting upfield, a foul by Solva's Richard Bland halted their run, referee Alan Boswell deemed the foul to be inside the penalty area and pointed to the spot, in what proved to be a controversial decision.
Steve Parkes stepped up for Athletic and his well taken penalty found the back of the net to give Milford the vital lead going into the second half of extra time. Milford, for so long on the back foot, now looked confident and enjoyed more possession in the second half of extra time and looked unlikely to concede their lead.
Solva desperately searched for an equaliser in the closing minutes but it wasn't to be their day and it was Milford's defence that held strong until the final whistle.
Milford Athletic, with managers Nicky Beavis and Brian Clayton, celebrated the end of season as Division Two Cup Champions for the second year running, but consolation for Solva did come when Pendine's draw at St Clears confirmed their promotion.
