CUTS to localised services are threatening the quality of life enjoyed in the county, according to Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb.

He says that recent proposals for the future of Withybush Hospital are the latest in a series of decisions that shows an erosion of local services.

Stephen said: "Pembrokeshire is facing a battle on many fronts.

"No-one is arguing that public services should not be changed or reformed, but what we are seeing in the county now are real cuts to the localised services on which we rely for our quality of life.

"Instead of planning for cuts and decline, we need a vision for growth and expansion of public services. With LNG, Bluestone and numerous other development opportunities, Pembrokeshire should be seeing significant new investment in transport, housing, health and social care."

He went on to say that residents were particularly concerned about the proposal to close or downgrade Withybush Hospital. This recent proposal rekindled anger over the decision taken last year to downgrade Haverfordwest Fire Station and more recently the news that Dyfed-Powys Police may soon be disbanded in favour of an All-Wales Police Force.

"The proposals to close or downgrade Withybush Hospital are of most concern. My mail bag is full of letters from constituents who have relied on the excellent care provided at Withybush over the last 30 years and who are now in disbelief that the hospital may have to go."

Stephen also pointed out that if Withybush is closed very few babies will be born in the county in the future.
