TOP snooker professionals Steve Davis, Matthew Stephens and Dominic Dale were the star attractions at Eddie's Snooker and Social Club, in Haverfordwest on Sunday, writes Gordon Thomas.
The big fundraising event was a brilliant success and all the proceeds made on the day, which were in the region of £7,000, will be donated to Autism Cymru.
The six-times world champion Davis, nicknamed Nugget, cued off the event with a game of pool with Haverfordwest Town Mayor Alan Buckfield. And guess what? The Mayor won!
The three top snooker pros then took on all-comers in games of pool, which was well received by an enthusiastic crowd kept amused by Bill Carne, the Western Telegraph's top rugby correspondent, who did a brilliant job as MC for the day.
Andrew Goffin, of Hakin, was the Western Telegraph's competition winner. He was delighted to receive his prize from Davis, a snooker cue signed by the three top pros. He also got to play against the mega-superstar Davis.
In the evening, Steve Davis treated everyone present to a spectacular trick shot session which left all in awe.
With so many talking points in a fun-packed family day, one of the best highlights was the final of the Blands' Pembrokeshire Snooker League Pairs, where Adrian Frost and Lee Frost, of the Milford Conservative Club beat Kevin Davies and Mike Dearden, of Pembroke Power Station club.
The referee was Phil Thomas and organiser Al Gordon.
S4C television cameras were there to cover the fundraising day plus there was a host of celebrities talking, signing autographs and having their photos taken with the public.
Celeb household names present were Simon Easterby, Sarra Elgan, Miss Wales Claire Evans, Jamie Baulch, Bernard Latham, Stuart Cable and Lisa Jeynes.
Eddie's proprietor, Cllr Mark Edwards, was delighted that everything had gone so well at his venue.
Autism Wales' Laura Morgan was highly delighted that they had actually made so much money for her organisation and was extremely grateful to all the sponsors and everyone who contributed to make the whole event such a huge success.
