With Jamiroquai I always feel like I know what Im getting.
Its reassuring to know there will be no surprises and its kind of even, if you know what I mean.
That being said, this is a highly enjoyable album, romping through the usual disco beats and twanging vocals.
I loved the first few tracks on A Funk Odyssey, with their very catchy beats. In fact, the first three were top tunes. I just jumped up and danced.
I thought the middle of the album lost its way a bit, with tracks such as Black Crow. It may be a bit of a break from the sunshine and the sweet sensations, but quite frankly thats all I want from Jamiroquai. I want no stormy anger of the world or weeping leaves of autumn.
The Saturday Night Fever feel of Main Vein brought me back to what Jamiroquai is all about, followed by an oooh, feel so good factor. By the end of the album there are some violin-type grooves, a lot more sunshine, and a nasal lilt in JKs voice that chills, ya know?
7/10
