FOLLOWING the well-attended inaugural AGM at Queens Hall, Narberth, the newly elected board of directors for Pembrokeshire Tourism held its first meeting on Monday, October 8th.

The directors have been elected from each aspect of the tourism trade in Pembrokeshire and from both north and south of the county, so that the whole of the tourism industry can be represented.

The directors are: Tim Brace, F. B. Mason; Mathew Evans, Activity Wales; John Birt Llewellyn, Pembrokeshire Farm Holidays; Bobby King, Jalna Hotel; Simon Meyrick, Dinosaur Park; Chris Osbourne, Fourcroft Hotel; Huw Pendleton, Croft Holiday Park; Ceri Price, St Brides Bay Cottages; David Reed, PBI/Business Connect; Jenny Swainston, Hippo Hall. Pembrokeshire Tourisms objectives are:

To be a collective voice for the whole of the tourism industry in Pembrokeshire.

To be an effective promotional vehicle for quality tourism in the county. To be an involvement for all businesses that are concerned with tourism. These will be achieved by integrating and reflecting the views and wishes of the wide spectrum of companies that are involved, to varying degrees, in the trade.

Accommodation providers, both serviced and self-catering, will have differing priorities from activity and attraction operators, or other businesses, that rely on the tourist trade, but are unified in a desire to see Pembrokeshire among the top tourist destinations in Britain.

Access to grant assistance, training, product development and quality issues are also high on the priorities of Pembrokeshire Tourism as the company, through its members, is determined to promote the quality tourism experience available in Pembrokeshire.

Tim Brace, chairman of Pembrokeshire Tourism, said: This is a very exciting time for tourism in Pembrokeshire and I feel that the setting up of Pembrokeshire Tourism is of vital importance. The enthusiasm of the directors will assist in our industry going forward. Pembrokeshire needs one strong voice to represent all of our interests and will add to the quality of life in Pembrokeshire. We also need retail to be on board so that we are able to go from strength to strength.
