Hughes Butchers in High Street, Fishguard make the best bangers in Britain - its official.
The butchers recently won the best Traditional Pork Sausage accolade at the Black Country Festival of Food held at the Black Country Living Musem in Dudley.
To add to the title of Champion of Champions, Hughes Butchers Traditional Pork Sausage was also named the Best Overall Product for the three-day event.
We were absolutely delighted, said owner of the shop Peter Hughes, who has already won a host of award for his sausages.
The festival was organised by the Wolverhampton and District Butchers Association and supported by British Meat.
It gave butchers the chance to put the quality of their products to the test against competitors from across the UK. A total of 259 entries were submitted.
In addition to their category award, Hughes Butchers also won an additional £500 from the Wolverhampton and District Butchers Association - who had offered the money as a reward to any butcher who could take the best Traditional Pork Sausage title away from them!
John Holden, of British Meat, said: The standard displayed by the independent butchers was very high, with 39 butchers being awarded the gold quality standard for one or more of their products.
The category winners products therefore had to be of an exceptionally high quality for both taste and appearance in order to beat such strong competition.
Peter opened the shop 14 years ago and runs it with his wife Beverley. As well as selling a variety of non-meat products, including fish and cheese, the shop operates a mail-order service which delivers food to all over the UK.
Coincidentally, last week was Sausage Week and Hughes donated 5p from every pound of sausages sold to Fishguards Ysgol y Babanod, who are fundraising for the Noah Ark Appeal.
