MILFORD HAVEN Port Authority general manager, Ted Sangster, has been appointed to sit on the Cruise UK advisory board.
Cruise UK, a division of the British Tourist Authority, has recently been established with a central purpose of acting as an umbrella organisation for all companies and organisations involved in cruise-related activities in the UK.
Commented Ted Sangster: Britain is one of the worlds top five tourism destinations and Cruise UK will assist ports such as Milford Haven to develop as a cruise destination.
The advisory board, which has been set up by the British Tourism Authority, will help drive initiatives to promote the growth of cruise tourism in the UK.
It is on record that Britain represents the largest cruise market in Europe and is second in world terms to the USA. Some two years ago the Port Authority started out on a planned marketing strategy to attract cruise ships to Milford Haven and we are optimistic that in time the port will become an established cruise destination bringing economic benefits to West Wales and Pembrokeshire in particular. Our involvement with Cruise UK, together with representation on the advisory board, will doubtless be extremely beneficial in promoting the port.
