Not many women can make the transition from a squeaky clean soap star in a boiler suit to high priestess of pop and sex kitten to boot - but somehow Kylies done it. Now, its almost got to the point where if you dont like her people think theres something wrong with you. Very weird, seeing as just a few years ago she was still thought of as a bit naff and her singles were languishing at the bottom of the charts.
Anyhow, the album. Is it any good? Yes. Its pure disco, with a mixture of wonderfully modern and funky tracks and others with more of an 80s influence (get those synths out). But - this is the odd bit - quite a lot of the songs reminded me of 5-Star. If you dont remember 5-Star (and dont worry, you didnt miss anything) they were the 80s version of the Jacksons, but much, much stranger. Apparently, their father built them their own disco in their mansion because they werent allowed to go out. Imagine knocking around a great big empty disco with your brothers and sisters all night. Wow! Loads of fun!
Notwithstanding the 5-Star influence, the tracks range from okay (better than Posh but not too exciting) to brilliant. The recent number one (Cant Get You Out Of My Head) is easily the best track on it, but there are plenty which are nearly as good, especially More, More, More and Burning Up. Unfortunately, theres a bit of a slide in the middle of the album where the songs start sounding all the same and the 5-Star factor rears its head in a big way. But on the whole, the albums pretty good and if all youre looking for is a bit of frothy meaningless disco, then this is the one for you.
