Investing in Pembrokeshire Society Limited, which runs the Pembrokeshire Lottery, has now been running for eight years.
Unique in Wales, it provides businesses in the county with interest-free loans to assist them in expansion and job creation. To date £1.3 million has been lent or committed to over 90 businesses in Pembrokeshire. The range of businesses assisted cover all aspects of life, from tourism to heavy engineering, agriculture and the arts. No age or gender criteria are applicable. Jobs have been created for all ages with agencies such as the Princes Youth Business Trust, providing opportunities for young people. Applicants in their seventies have had success with proposed schemes. The society has redesigned its application forms to make the process more user friendly. Mary Megarry, administrative controller, said: With a standard form - now county-wide, business advisers will be able to assist entrepreneurs quickly and more efficiently in applying for funds. The Pembrokeshire Lottery, now in its ninth year, was the brainchild of Danny Fellows. Operating from offices in Pembroke Dock, it ensures a £2,000 weekly prize. Details about the lottery scheme, as well as the assistance available, can be obtained by contacting 01646 622052.
