THE MANAGER of the Palace Cinema in Haverfordwest says he is going to take drastic steps to stop people using their mobile phones in the cinema.
Trevor Harries said that despite installing CCTV in the cinema, people are still using their mobiles.
Now, if anyone is caught on their phone anywhere in the building - not just in the auditorium - they will be asked to leave. We will immediately stop the film and remove them from the premises, said Mr Harries. If they refuse to go we will call the police. He said there were already signs galore in the cinema telling people to switch their phones off, but they had little effect. Three people were using mobile phones last night, he said on Friday. They were all given a right rollicking. One went off in the cinema - a woman came out using it. Another was using it in the passageway by the toilets. Another one was using a mobile in the foyer. He said the problem was that the mobile phones pick up the Dolby Stereo Amplifier and it causes noise through the speaker. There is nothing wrong with having a mobile phone, if it is used correctly. Ive got one, he added. But people are not using them for what they are intended for. Theyre using them everywhere they go, he said.
