A data and telecommunications cabling systems manufacturer is to create 24 jobs in Cardigan, after relocating its manufacturing operations to the Welsh Development Agencys Parc Teifi Business Park.

Reliance Manufacturing Ltd will be creating skilled production and assembly jobs through the manufacturing of its computer, telephone and power connectivity systems, which include cabling, patch leads, face-plates, data cabinets and power distribution units.

The company, which has received a Regional Selective Assistance Grant from the National Assembly for Wales and support from the WDAs Mid Wales Division, has purchased a 12,000 square feet unit at the Business Park.

The Assemblys First Minister, Rhodri Morgan AM, said: I am delighted that Reliance has chosen to set-up in Cardigan.

The project, and its location on the Parc Teifi Business Park, is strategically important to the local economy, providing a most welcome jobs boost to the area.

A significant financial inducement from the Assembly has been part of the package to support Reliance with its new venture into Wales. This is exactly the type of encouragement we should be directing toward enterprising companies looking to locate in Wales.

Dr Geraint Davies, WDA executive director for Mid Wales, stated: This is excellent news for Cardigan. Reliances decision to locate its new manufacturing facility at Parc Teifi will provide much-needed employment in the area and highlights the Business Park as a quality location.

He added: Data and telecommunications are rapidly growing markets and Reliance has become one of the leaders within the UKs cabling and connectivity sectors. Their expansion into Mid Wales will provide further opportunities for the companys development.

One of the companys last major contracts was to design, manufacture and install wiring looms for 800 dealer desks at a major investment bank based at the Canary Wharf complex in London.

Mr Geoff Wylie, managing director of Reliance Manufacturing Ltd said the companys expansion was as a direct result of its commitment to product development.

We are constantly developing our systems to meet the needs of our clients and the ever-changing communications world.

We recently launched the enhanced Lanmaster structured cabling system which provides design and price advantages over our competitors. The response to this has been tremendous and we now need to increase our productivity further as a direct result.

Reliance has an active customer base of over 100 companies in the UK and Eire. It has recently appointed distributors to cover the growing Russian market, where it already has a client base, and is finalising negotiations with an agent and distributor for the North American market.

To satisfy these new demands, the company will be recruiting skilled computer aided design and printed circuit board mechanical specialists, metal workers, assembly line staff and administrative personnel for its new facility.
