LONDON-BASED production company Dreaming Fish Productions, in association with the British Surfing Association and Black Diamond Films, has released Made in Britain - the first ever film dedicated to surfing in the UK.
The crew spent two weeks in Wales during May and filmed the Welsh Nationals at Freshwater West and the Welsh Longboard Classic on the Gower, as well as covering free surfing at these two beaches.
With the phenomenal growth in interest in surfing in this country, Dreaming Fish felt it was about time that surfers from around Britain could watch a video about surfing in places that they know.
Shot with over 160 British surfers and with a soundtrack made by unsigned British bands, Made in Britain follows the Dreaming Fish production team on their epic four month journey around the British coastline from Lands End to John o Groats.
Due to foot and mouth restrictions several surf breaks were inaccessible, but filming carried on regardless with the end result giving a good insight into surfing in Wales.
Featured surfers include Chris French, from City Surf in Swansea; Chris Guts Griffiths, of Guts Longboards, and Gower locals Andy Jenkins and Jem Howe (recently ranked tenth in the world on a waveski), as well as many other Welsh surfers.
The film is available from surf shops across the country or can be obtained direct from Black Diamond Films via the website at www.blackdiamond.co.uk or call 01371 873138.
