CASTLEMARTIN Ranges will be involved in a major exercise in Southern Britain early in the new year, as part of the ongoing development of 16 Air Assault Brigade.
The exercise, between January 21st and February 1st, will involve up to 2000 soldiers, 400 vehicles, 30 helicopters and ten fixed wing aircraft. Troops from 16 Air Assault Brigade have returned recently from operations in Macedonia, and many are currently on 48 hours notice to deploy on operations as part of Operation VERITAS.
Although the exercise will be based around Salisbury Plain, exercising troops and aircraft will also use Castlemartin Ranges, Lulworth Ranges in Dorset and Sculthorpe Airfield in Lincolnshire.
More details, with latest reports and timings of low-flying activity, will be posted on the Brigades website at www.army.mod.uk/16_aaslt_bde/Exercises
