Two Pembrokeshire milk producers will be among the speakers at the Milk Development Council's first national dynamic dairying conference in West Sussex later this month.
Alan Wheatley, of the Picton Castle Estate, The Rhos, and Chris James, of Stackpole Home Farm, Stackpole, will join other speakers in an event designed to provide producers with the information, ideas and tools to improve their profitability.
Kevin Bellamy, chief executive of the Milk Development Council, said the programme would address key topics affecting the industry, including labour management matters. "By keeping the programme dynamic, we anticipate generating interest and lively participation from all attendees,'' he said.
The Pembrokeshire farmers will take part in the labour forum, designed to bring together a group of people working in the dairy industry with a range of viewpoints and representing a wide-angle view of labour management issues on dairy farms.
Smart business management and labour motivation and retention will be two of the key themes at the conference.
It also aims to bring together a refreshing mix of opinions from other countries and industries to help milk producers make better informed decisions.
Dairy farmers are being offered free transport by bus from Carmarthen to the conference.
The conference, at Ardingly, will be held on October 26th and 27th. The cost for MDC members is £15 a day, and £100 for non-levy payers.
