Review: The Spirit of the Horse: The Legend Continues. I bet you didn't know a horse could tap dance.
Well, the thousands who flocked to The Spirit of the Horse: The Legend Continues theatre show at Withybush last week do.
The 30 equine stars performed tricks that I can only dream my horse could do - and quite a few I'm very glad she can't!
The horsemanship was breathtaking. How you can control ten Arab stallions completely loose in a ten-metre circle they could easily jump out of, is beyond me.
The show reminded me greatly of a gymnastics floor exercise (bear with me on this one!)
The big, technical and spectacular 'tumbles' were quite a sight, be it equestrian gymnastics star Jana Shanikova hula-hooping with eight hoops, while stood on one leg on the back of a cantering horse, or the awesome Ali-Bek Cossacks of Cavkas, flinging themselves 360 degrees under the belly of a galloping horse to land back in the saddle.
But the fluff in between, such as the dancing - human, not equine - and the stab at some form of 'plot', was just tedious.
But as family entertainment, the whole package seemed to go down a storm with the capacity Friday night audience.
