Ladies' Hockey Pembroke 3 Crymych 2 Pembroke ladies played their first league match of the new season against Crymych Ladies, last season's unbeaten champions.

Pembroke started the game brightly, placing the Crymych goal under pressure but failing to break the deadlock.

Crymych settled into their game and began to counter attack but failed to capitalise on these breaks. Pembroke eventually took the lead through Carys Jones.

The second half saw the champions attacking from the outset, forcing Pembroke to concede a short corner. Christine Lewis got Crymych level with a text book short corner strike. Not happy with this strike, within minutes, she copied her first effort to put Crymych into the lead.

The game started to swing from end to end, with both teams playing exciting hockey. Catherine Owen drew Pembroke level, which set up the last 15 minutes for an exciting encounter as both teams pressed forward looking for the win.

The Pembroke midfield got a hold of the game at this point, with Tasha Lawrence, who normally places right wingback, having an excellent game at centre midfield. From this midfield platform, Jackie Cadogan broke down the left hand side into the circle, slipping the ball square of the on-coming goalie to Catherine Owen to get the winner for Pembroke.

Both teams gave 100 percent but still managed to play the game in the correct spirit and produce an exciting game.
