Golden wedding celebrations for Saundersfoot couple Rosemary and Ronnie Hayes saw them surrounded by family and friends on Saturday.
And the pair's special anniversary is the latest in a number of notable dates in their calender - including Rosemary being awarded the MBE for services to the community.
Through her many years of public service, Ronnie has always given his loyal support.
"I think that supporting each other all the way through has been the reason why we have been married for 50 years," said Rosemary, who is a member and former chairman of both Pembrokeshire County Council and Saundersfoot Community Council, as well as belonging to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and a number of committees in the village.
Neath-born Ronnie, who grew up in Martletwy, ran Rosemary's Shoe Shop in Saundersfoot as well as being a postman before his retirement. The couple have one son, Roger.
Ronnie and Rosemary met at a dance in the former Drill Hall in Saundersfoot, and were married at St Issell's Church on October 16th 1954 by the then curate, Rev Peter Wildridge.
"It was his first wedding, and he was far more nervous than we were!" recalled Rosemary.
St Issell's Church has continued to play an important part in their lives, with Rosemary being a churchwarden, and donations to the church instead of anniversary presents were requested by the golden couple.
