Rugby Division Three (West): Lampeter 41 Pembroke Dock Harlequins 0 Pembroke Dock Harlequins went down to a third successive defeat and finished with only 13 men against Lampeter.
Flanker Phil Hughes and No 8 Gareth Scourfield were given their marching orders in the second period after Kevin Bratcher had also been yellow-carded after only eight minutes and second row Mike Scourfield had followed him into the sin-bin after half an hour of a match which wasn't a dirty one in wet conditions.
Quins' coach Lennie Scourfield was tight-lipped about the decisions and was quick to praise the work-rate of the home side, but his front row was penalised for lifting too high at the lineout and he was instructed at half time that there was to be no further rucking because of the conditions, an integral part of the Quins' game plan.
Lampeter went seven points ahead very early on and added a second score before the Quins had time to settle - and were 20-0 up at half time after Bratcher and Hughes had both spent a 10-minute enforced rest.
No 8 Dafydd James, flanker Barry Davies, centres Sean Williams and Richard Davies, and Llion Russell grabbed Lampeter's tries, with five conversions and two penalties for outside half Huw Thomas to complete a good day for the home side and one to forget for the visitors.
The Quins have a chance to put things right this Saturday when they entertain Colwyn Bay in the Welsh Cup.
