Dear Editor, - The Western Telegraph report headlined Council Plagued By Best Value Inspections' (October 20th) states that Pembrokeshire County Council's waste management is recommended for improvement.
The actual Audit Commission assessment on the authority's performance was: 'We have assessed the council as providing a 'good' two-star service that has promising prospects for improvement.'
This is quite different from the impression given in your story.
In fact the authority's waste management is rated one of the best in Wales and no local authority in the principality has had a better review.
The council's waste team has worked particularly hard in gaining this assessment and it would be nice to set the record straight.
Councillor Brian Hall Cabinet Member for Environment and Transportation
