Dear Editor, - There has been much concern about the road proposals for Haverfordwest.
I believe it is proposed to construct a road from Mariners Square to Dew Street which will involve the demolition of the swimming pool.
Also proposed is the demolition of the old infirmary, library and National Park offices on St Thomas Green, for a replacement swimming pool and sports centre.
The best way forward to ease the traffic problems would be to continue Freemens Way as a ring road past Pembrokeshire College, Under the Hills to Palmerston, the Dale Road to Park Corner and the Broad Haven Road. The road structure to there is already in place so no land purchase would be needed.
From Park Corner there would be a need to connect to Thomas Parry Way thereby nearly completing a ring.
The St Thomas Green buildings would be best utilised as a large hotel.
The proposed swimming pool and sports facility could be more convenient off the Eastern By-pass near the Sir Thomas Picton School.
GEORGE GREY 51 Queensway Haverfordwest.
