A MOTHER has spoken of her vigil in Tenby for her missing son, which is now entering its third agonising week.

Daniel Murch, aged 33, disappeared only days before he was due to fly out to Hong Kong to visit a girlfriend.

His car was found parked on the road leading to Waterwynch Beach, but there have been no clues to what sparked off his disappearance.

"Dan has had mental health problems in the past, but currently he has never been more positive," his mother, Mrs Shirley Murch, told the Western Telegraph on Monday. "He had made all the arrangements to go to Hong Kong - including sorting out me looking after his much-loved cat - and had a lot to look forward to."

Daniel, who was studying for an Open University degree, had forged a friendship with Gina, a Filipino nanny in Hong Kong, through their shared love of the Harry Potter books and films.

"They met through the Harry Potter website around 16 months ago, and got on so well," said Mrs Murch. "He had been to see Gina once before, and she was very good for him. I've spoken to her on the phone every day since he disappeared."

On Wednesday, October 27th, Daniel was last seen at around 11am, after buying four pints of milk, a copy of the Western Telegraph and a birthday card for his grandmother, who was 90 two days later.

"There's no logical reason for him going missing," said Mrs Murch, who has come from her home in Cardiff to stay in Daniel's flat in The Clicketts, Tenby. "He had no cash, cards or passport with him."

DANIEL is the second young man to go missing from Tenby within three days, although police do not believe the disappearances are connected. James Nutley, aged 25, of Caldicot, Gwent, has not been seen since leaving a pub in the town on October 24th.

His possessions were found on the South Beach. Anyone with any information about Daniel or James should contact Tenby police on 01834 842303.
