Llechryd Cricket Club captain Kevin Evans' superb season with both bat and ball was recognised at the club's annual dinner, held in the Castell Malgwyn Hotel recently, when he received the top awards for batting and bowling from club chairman Ryan Williams.
The guest speaker was the Vicar of St Dogmaels and the second team awards went to teenager Josh Ward (Best Batsman with an average of 38) and to veteran bowlers Malcolm McHugh and Ollie Llewellyn (joint Best Bowlers with respective hauls of 46 wickets at 8.0 and 38 wickets at 8.2).
Josh Ward also received the Best Youth Batsman award (average 82), whilst the Best Youth Batsman was Andrew Saralis, with Drew Davies as the Most Improved Youth Player.
At under 13 level the recipients were Steffan Davies (Best Batsman), Tom Bluett (Best Bowler) and Luke Thomas (Most Improved Player), with Charlie Welch also congratulated on receiving his Dragon 5 coaching award.
There was also acclaim for Josh Ward and Charlie Welch for representing Pembrokeshire at junior level, whilst Thomas Davies, Daniel Jay and Richard Connolly were congratulated on being selected to play for Ceredigion Under 14s in the same game.
A smashing evening was brought to an abrupt end for some of the guests when it was announced that the nearby river was close to flood and anyone living on the Cardiganshire side of the bridge had to make sure that they crossed the bridge before the water flowed over it!
