THE Sports Council for Wales have recently awarded £4,500 to Pembroke Dock Harlequins RFC, which in effect will be nearer £27,000, after striking up a three year lucrative sponsorship deal with a business company.
Quins' main sponsors ESS Support Services Worldwide who trade at Texaco, have signed an exciting deal, and what's more the commercial scheme is boosted by matching the Sports Council for Wales' investment 'pound for pound'.
The money will go towards setting up an U16 rugby academy in the not too distant future at the Bierspool Ground.
This exciting new project will also help promote rugby for all ages in the Pembroke Dock area and will assist with coaching and provide playing facilities when required.
Ecstatic Pembroke Dock Harlequins chairman Mike Bradney said: "We are absolutely delighted at striking up this exciting new deal.
"I'd like to thank the Welsh Sports Council for Wales for sanctioning our idea. Also a big thank you to our main sponsor ESS Support Services Worldwide for matching the deal.
"I hope that they'll be involved as our sponsor for longer than the three year period that they have signed up for.
"It's nice to see in this day and age a company which is prepared to put something back into the community."
