Pembrokeshire has produced its first international primary age gymnast in current British Under 11s champion Harry Owen from Begelly.
Harry has recently represented the Welsh Under 13s gymnastic team in the Celtic Cup (the annual Under 13 and Under 17 international between Wales, Ireland and Scotland).
The competition held in Perth, Scotland, resulted in Wales winning a Celtic Cup Grand Slam by winning in both age groups for boys and girls.
This completed a personal Grand Slam for Harry after he had won a gold medal at the British Championships, including all the English regions, earlier this year.
He then finished in first position at the international trial held in Wrexham to choose the national team for the Celtic Cup, and ultimately won a team gold against the best Scottish and Irish gymnasts.
Harry has represented Welsh schools on two occasions at inter-regional competitions and the Welsh team at club level and received valuable financial assistance from Pembrokeshire County Council - sports development department - who again provided grant aid for his representation at the Celtic Cup.
Harry has his sights firmly set on continuing to represent his country at the junior and senior Commonwealth Games in the future.
