HARD-HITTING Pembroke Dock boxer Scott 'The Hammer' Gammer will fight for the British heavyweight title after a convincing victory in Sheffield on Sunday.

Four-time Welsh Amateur Boxing Association champion Scott, 28, of 31 Dorset Row, Llanion, (pictured, right) demolished eliminator opponent Mark Rench in eight rounds before the referee stopped the bout.

Scott's next bout will be for the British title but he will not know his opponent until after the clash between current champion Matt Skelton and Danny Williams in July.

Scott told the Western Telegraph: "I was always confident that I would win and it was a comfortable victory, at the moment I feel on top of the world."

The 6ft 2" labourer, who weighs in at over 16 stone went on to say he was ready to fight for the title and hoped to have his chance before the end of the year.

The father-of-two has been boxing since the age of nine under the tutelage of father and trainer Ralph Gammer and is undefeated in 14 bouts since turning pro three years ago. "There is no doubt that Scott has what it takes to be champion," Ralph said.

Richard Graham, of Big Brums Pembroke Dock and James Welch, of S Welch Roofing, are proud to be sponsoring Scott.
