DEAR EDITOR, - I still see that one of the most architectural and historic buildings in the centre of Haverfordwest, the Shire Hall, lies empty and discarded and is actually becoming an eyesore.
Surely with the summer months beckoning, Pembrokeshire County Council, which still owns the building, should have a 'duty of care' and be responsible for maintaining the exterior upkeep of the building. The gates are left unlocked and there is litter and mess all over the place! Surely this should be sorted out as a matter of urgency!
On the other hand why can't the sale to the Wetherspoon pub chain be accelerated? This company will no doubt be an asset, not only to the building but to the people of the town and visitors alike.
For Wetherspoon not only have immaculate public houses, they also sell reasonably priced food and alcoholic beverages.
Surely Pembrokeshire County Council can see this as, after all, Wetherspoon is their preferred bidder. So for the sake of the people of Haverfordwest and its visitors can Pembrokeshire County Council get its act together?
