A LOCAL naturist resort and a naturist club have been named among the best places in the UK to bare all!

According to the new book 'Bare Britain' - a revealing guide to naturist hotspots - the naturist resort Tything Barn, West Williamston, and the Cleddau Dippers Naturalist Swimming Club, St Davids, are among the best in the country.

Richard Wells, of Cleddau Dippers, said: "We are delighted to have made it into the Bare Britain book. The more people who know about us the less people are missing out!

"When I moved here, there were no naturist swimming clubs, so I set one up. Now there are around 36 members. People who try it are there for life. Its very liberating. It's just about making that first step!"

During the winter, the club meets at St Davids Swimming Pool on Sundays. The last session was at the weekend.

Mr Wells said that the Tything Barn naturist resort was the certainly one of the best in the UK, having 23 acres of land in which to wander around naked.

Joe Folder, of Tything Barn, said: "We've been running for 25 years there has been a huge increase in interest over the last few years.

"Our location is unique as not many farms have a tidal boundary. It is very private here and people can relax.

"It is an ideal place to get away from modern bureaucracy and not to be bound or judged by fashion. I would say there isn't a profession that is not represented here - from judges to lorry drivers!

"It all began in the hot summers of the 1970s when it seemed stupid to wear clothes at all," he said.

Added Richard Wells: "Who wants to wear soggy swimsuits anyway. We were all born naked. There really is no big deal."
