The trial of a father accused of murdering his teenage daughter in the centre of Cardigan was suddenly stopped this morning (Tuesday).

Gary John Fisher, aged 48, denies murdering 17-year-old Chanelle Sasha Jones in the car park of the Angel Hotel on August 2nd last year.

The judge, Mr Justice Lloyd-Jones, said today at Swansea crown court that a member of the jury had been taken ill overnight and he was not prepared to continue the trial with only 11 jurors.

A new jury panel will be sworn in and later today Chris Clee QC, prosecuting, will re-open the case.

The prosecution say Fisher, from Solihull in Birmingham, stabbed Sasha to death and then drove around west Wales with her body in the passenger seat of his car.

His Ford Fiesta was eventually slowed down by a police stinger device stretched across the road near Aberaeron. Shortly afterwards he swerved into a layby and collided with a parked camper van.
