The process of recruiting up to 90 permanent staff to operate and maintain Pembroke Power Station is set to begin with an event at Pembroke Dock today, Tuesday March 2nd.
RWE npower wants potential applicants to use the opportunity to meet members of the station’s management team.
The recruitment event at The Technium will enable jobseekers to learn about the specific skills needed for the operational and maintenance jobs on offer, which include engineers and technicians in electrical, mechanical, control, shift operations, environmental, chemistry, and health and safety disciplines.
Pembroke Power Station manager, Clive Smith, said between 80 and 90 jobs were being created and the emphasis was on recruiting locally.
These jobs will be high quality positions, added Mr Smith, and RWE intends to ensure that people are fully aware of what is available.
“We are holding this recruitment event to allow potential candidates to understand more about RWE, the station and what quality jobs are on offer,’’ he said.
Once applications have been received, recruitment will be undertaken through intensive assessment, facilitated by an organisation with specialist skills in this area.
“Our workforce is a big investment for us. These are quality jobs and we want to recruit people for the long term,’’ says Mr Smith.
The £1billion power station will be the biggest gas-fired plant in Europe.
It is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2012.
Today's event will run between 1pm and 8pm.
Anyone who plans to attend the event is asked to register their interest by contacting the RWE hotline on 0845 1360102.
