Around 160 hungry souls flocked to St Davids City Hall on Saturday to find out who made the biggest hitting cawl in Britain's smallest city.
Members of the public paid a pound entry fee and for their money got to judge eight samples of souper soup and rank their three favourites.
Each cauldron of cawl had been anonymously submitted by an eatery or organisation in the city, they were represented by a letter rather than the restaurant's name.
The winning cawl was made by Tara Guy from the Farmer’s Arms in Goat Street, St Davids (cawl H); Cwtch Restaurant came second (Cawl A) and third was The Refectory at St Davids Cathedral (cawl G).
This year's event was organized by the Really Wild Food and Countryside Festival, organiser Brian Powdrill who was delighted at the huge numbers who attended.
"As we had not organised the event previously, we were somewhat surprised at the number who came to the tasting," he said.
"At £1 per person it was a fairly cheap lunch!"
the competition looks to be going from strength to strength with Brian already making plans for coping with the crowds next year.
