Tenby’s Tudor Square enhancement works are due to take three years to complete because of summer and bank holiday breaks, town councillors have been told.
No work will take place on the scheme during Easter and June, July and August this year on the Pembrokeshire County Council scheme, which involves the construction, using high-quality materials, of a new layout of the carriageway and footway within the square.
Church Street will be closed next week from Tuesday, March 2nd to Tuesday, March 16th to enable a start on the enhancement works themselves.
County council spokesman Len Mullins said: “The road closures are necessary because the road in the region of the junction between Church Street and Tudor Square is too narrow to excavate half the carriageway and still maintain singleway traffic.”
Vehicles are being diverted clockwise via St George’s Street, Upper Frog Street, White Lion Street, High Street and Tudor Square.
Vehicles are also being diverted anti-clockwise via Tudor Square, High Street, White Lion Street, South Parade, Florence Parade, Lower Frog Street and St George’s Street.
