Two brothers from Haverfordwest have put their pedal power to the test to raise money for a Haiti orphanage.

Tom Bee, aged ten, and his eight-year-old brother Dan, from Portfield Gate, were inspired to raise funds after their uncle and aunt in Switzerland adopted a baby girl from the country.

Before the new family could be united, the devastating earthquake hit Haiti .

It took weeks for the new parents to receive news that 23-month-old Anneka had survived the disaster that had severely damaged the orphanage where she lived.

With the new family now united, the brothers who attend Fenton school, were keen to raise money to help the hundreds of orphans still at the Maison Des Anges orphanage.

Accompanied by their dad Paul, keen bikers Tom and Dan embarked on a 23-mile sponsored bike ride from their home to Neyland and back all in one day.

The boys’ mum Kerri used Facebook, as well as texting and e-mail to encourage family and friends to support the boys’ cycle challenge.

Kerri said: “People have been so incredibly supportive and generous.

“I am tremendously proud of the boys and the money they have raised will go such a long way.”

More than £750 raised from their bike ride will go directly to the orphanage in Haiti.
