St Davids Eco City week gets underway this weekend.

Today (Saturday), digging begins at Emlych, where chairman of the Eco City Group, Andy Dixon, and his wife Anne, have let out part of their land to St Davids City Council for allotment use.

The Dewi Sant Allotment Group was set up following a campaign by the eco group — and members can’t wait to get growing.

The eco group aims to make St Davids the first carbon neutral city in the world and a week of events will bring films, talks, workshops and more to residents interested in doing their bit.

Tomorrow (Sunday) Surfers Against Sewage have organised a beach clean at Newgale and will show surf film Under the Sun at Solva Memorial Hall at 6.30pm.

Head to the Cross Square on St David’s Day (Monday)to find out more from the Eco City Group, which will have a stall set up from 10am to 2pm.

Two films – The Age of Stupid and Messages in the Waves – are to be shown at the Memorial Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

At 10.30am on Thursday, March 4th, another beach clean is planned, this time at Porth Llisky, meeting at Treginnis Farm.

The eco week ends on Friday, March 5th, with an exhibition and talks at St Davids City Hall.
