A 20-year-old man who died in a car crash on the Penally bypass will be laid to rest today (Friday).

Gavin Collier, from Neath, was the front seat passenger in a Peugeot 106 car that ploughed into a parked 4x4 on the side of Penally by-pass on Wednesday, February 17th.

The driver, who is from the Tenby area but has not yet been named by police, is in a 'stable' condition in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

Police said that the car 'appeared to have lost control' before the crash.

Over 2,000 people have joined a Facebook tribute site, RIP Gavin Collier, to leave messages and recollections of a popular young man, described as a 'smiling, handsome boy' and 'loved by many, hated by none'.

Mr Collier was a member of Pyscho's kickboxing team, whose members wore black armbands as they fought a tournament last Saturday.

His funeral will take place in Neath today, when he will be buried in his mother's grave.

On Sunday his friends will drive from Neath to Tenby as a way of paying tribute. They plan to drive slowly to the resort and lay flowers at the scene of the crash and commemorate Gavin's birthday, which would have been on Monday (March 1st).

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at around 3.15pm, on Wednesday, February 17th .

In particular, they would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the blue Peugeot 106 in the area before the collision.

Anyone with information should contact PC Justin Williams of Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit on 101.
