Newport Library will close its doors at 5pm today (Friday) for six weeks of major refurbishment work.
The new look library is due to reopen at 2pm on Monday 12th April.
Narberth Library will also be closed for work later this spring. The library will shut at 1pm on Saturday 13th March. It will be closed for seven weeks, reopening at 2pm on Tuesday 4th May.
Refurbishment work at both buildings will include the installation of new lighting, repainting as well as new shelving layout.
Before closure borrowers will be able to take out a larger number of books than normal and return them when their library reopens.
Alternatively, they can use their library ticket at any other library in Pembrokeshire and borrow and return books there.
Pembrokeshire County Council said that the closures are necessary to ensure public safety and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
