The arrival of two new developments in north Pembrokeshire are drawing closer, as proposals for a new care scheme for the elderly at the Crymych mart ground were approved.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s cabinet members unanimously passed proposals to approve the acquisition of land, which is currently occupied by the Crymych mart ground.
The land would then be sold on to a housing association, with an appropriate amount also being made available to the Hywel Dda local health board. The land will then become the site of a new residential care home, health care facility and day centre.
Councillor David Wildman, cabinet member for adult services and care, said: “This is the best news for north Pembrokeshire in a long time.
“We know this is what the local people want because it’s what they have told us.”
His sentiments were echoed by Cllr Sian James, who said the new facilities would provide a “fantastic opportunity for north Pembrokeshire”.
The terms for the purchase of the land have been agreed between the council and the Crymych market hall company, which had plans for a new sheep market approved by members of the county council’s planning and rights of way committee.
The site at Parc Gwynfryn, which lies around 400m north of Crymych on the A478, will include auction and collection pens, as well as a covered area and ancillary accommodation, to include an office and store.
