The new mayor of Pembroke for 2010/11 will be local businessman Councillor Keith Nicholas, who represents the Pembroke St. Mary south ward.

He is the current deputy mayor and will become the 631st mayor of Pembroke at the annual meeting at Pembroke town hall on Saturday, May 1st.

A native of Bosherston, Cllr Nicholas has been a member of Pembroke Town Council since 1997. A keen rugby fan, he is also social treasurer of Pembroke Rugby Football Club and past chairman of Pembroke Chamber of Trade.

On accepting the nomination, Cllr Nicholas said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be elected mayor and I am looking forward to the challenge during these difficult economic times. I will give 100% to addressing the issues and concerns of local people. I would also like to congratulate Cllr Aden Brinn on being elected to serve as deputy mayor.”

Cllr Nicholas will be raising money through his year of office for the Stackpole Mencap Gardens and Help for Heroes charities.
